August Newsletter

There have been so many exciting things at BL. I just wanted to say I am so incredibly grateful for the community and transformation of our clients actively taking place. It is truly beautiful! As we move through the third quarter, we continue to bring everything back to the pillars that guide our work....

Empowering. Transparent. Holistic.

What’s New at Balanced Living This Month

We are so excited to officially welcome Megan McKeever, as another full time member of the BL team!

Megan brings compassion and exceptional clinical skill into every session. She has already made such a meaningful impact!! Megan, thank you for being exactly as you are!

Brain Injury Support Group

This past month, our Brain Injury Support Group gathered for a nature walk and cookout and it was truly something special!!!! One of the most powerful parts was having the opportuity to connect 1:1, outside (the weather was perfect), and everyone had the opportunity to come exactly as they are. There is something empowering about being surrounded by people who understand the journey. Thank you to everyone that joined us and helped make the evening so meaningful.

This upcoming month, group will be August 22nd at the Komp Household. Thanks Mike and Teri! Stay tuned for our time!

We are also excited to offer an online Brain Injury Support Community for survivors, caregivers, and family members who want to stay connected between gatherings.

The online community is a space to share experiences, ask questions, access helpful resources, learn about upcoming events, and connect with others who understand the realities of life after brain injury.

Play Club

We also welcomed another wonderful group of little ones to our OT enrichment camp: Play Club!! This week we focused on developmental milestones, school readiness skills, social and emotional growth and sensory and motor development! By the middle of the week, we were already seeing meaningful changes with our kiddos. We couldn't be prouder!

Transformation is Happening at BL

This month, we have had the privilege of celebrating so many wins with our clients and families we serve:

  • Clients demonstrated measurable progress on standardized assessments, highlighting meaningful gains in cognition and functional performance

  • One client increased his independence by incorporating journaling into their daily routine, as well as a personalized visual schedule to reduce cognitive overload and improve their daily routine

  • We safely supported a client through a major cardiac procedure providing continuity of care before and after surgery

  • Multiple clients this month returned to preparing meals independently by using adaptive equipment recommendations to improve safety and independence

  • A client achieved a significant milestone by independently wheeling into the bathroom, positioning their wheelchair, and completing transfers with only contact guard assistance

Every milestone represents more than a clinical goal. Our favorite part is that it gives our clients and families participate more fully in the activities that matter most!!!

Growing With Intention

Our team recently held our Q3 meeting, where we focused on our key performance indicators, team alignment, and the continued growth of BL!! Growth is exciting, but we believe it should always remain connected to purpose. As we expand, we are committed to ensuring that every decision reflects our vision and values.

We would love to hear from you. If you have worked with our team, attended one of our events, participated in a community program, or connected with Balanced Living in any way, we invite you to share your experience by leaving us a review.

Your feedback helps others learn more about our work and allows our team to continue growing with intention.

We also welcome your comments, ideas, questions, and concerns. Open communication is an important part of who we are, and we want our community to feel heard, valued, and included as Balanced Living continues to grow.
